Rob Benson | Co-Founder, Managing Principal
Rob Benson is Co-Founder of Spinnaker Management Group (“SMG”), a holding company with four lines of business that has evolved and grown to approximately 350 employees across three continents. For over 18 years, Rob has worked with clients on Supply Chain Management challenges in the Semiconductor and High-tech industries. As the Managing Principal for Spinnaker's Supply Chain practice areas, Rob guides the strategic direction for the company's Supply Chain Consulting, JDA and SAP Practices, and Value-Added Warehousing & Distribution offerings. His recent client work focuses on combining the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process with APS tools to further enhance the ability to predict and manage complex, global supply chains.
Beginning his career at UC Berkeley, Rob worked with a team of researchers and consultants that developed some of the earliest optimization-based planning solutions for the Semiconductor industry. Key elements of these solutions are still found in supply chain planning applications from leading companies in the commercial marketplace.
As commercial software for supply chain planning developed to become the Advanced Planning Systems (APS) market, Rob helped clients use these applications more effectively through improved process design and measurement.
Rob holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California at Berkeley. He also received his B.S. in Operations Research from Cornell University. Rob is a recipient of the Franz Edelman Award for Management Science Achievement for his work on optimization-based planning systems with the team from UC Berkeley.
John Sharkey | Senior Vice President, Supply Chain Consulting
John Sharkey is Spinnaker’s Senior Vice President of Consulting and has oversight and leadership responsibility for the firm’s supply chain planning and strategy consulting practices which provide management consulting and technology consulting/support services. In this role, he oversees strategy and individual practice development, provides business development and marketing direction, and is responsible for overall financial performance for the group. Additionally, Mr. Sharkey is a frequent industry speaker and supply chain thought leader.
As a consultant, John is an expert in the design, development, implementation, and optimization of supply chain strategies, business processes, and technologies and helps oversee supply chain transformation initiatives. John has worked with a wide range of leading companies in the Apparel, Chemicals, Consumer Products, High-Tech/ Semiconductor, Industrial Manufacturing, Medical Products, Metals, Paper, Retail, and Telecommunications industries.
Having led project teams in a variety of domestic and global supply chain initiatives, he specializes in combining technology and process improvements to design supply chain systems that enable clients to achieve transformational results and achieve strategy objectives. Mr. Sharkey holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Illinois and master’s degrees in engineering and business from MIT. At MIT, John was a graduate fellow in the Leaders for Manufacturing (now Leaders for Global Operations) program, a partnership between MIT’s business and engineering schools and a consortium of leading global manufacturers. He lives in Chicago, Illinois and enjoys spending time with family, traveling, hiking, and golf.
Jeff Jorgensen | Senior Vice President, Returns Management Solutions
Jeff Jorgensen is a seasoned executive with 20 years of Sales, Management Consulting and Supply Chain Operations experience. At Spinnaker, Jeff leads the strategic direction and business operations for Supply Chain Execution services across all industry groups and regions. As the leader of the Value-Added Warehousing and Distribution Services team, Jeff manages the account relationships with major outsourcing clients. He is responsible for supply chain and product returns services, as well as oversees capability development efforts to support an expanding set of customers.
Jeff’s expertise in strategic planning, transitioning to shared services, business process integration, and service management has helped numerous clients to rapidly transform their operations and deliver measurable business results. Prior to joining Spinnaker in 2007, Jeff led Solution Development teams for Accenture’s Business Process Outsourcing division, contributed to Innovation and Offering Management efforts, and executed large-scale transformational outsourcing programs.
He has a demonstrated track record of designing and executing business change through pioneering solutions tailored specifically for Automotive, Financial Services, High-Tech, Telecommunications, and Energy/Resources industry groups. His diverse experience includes defining Go-To-Market strategies for growth-oriented small to medium-sized enterprises, managing the deployment of complex information systems, as well as orchestrating transformation programs for large multi-national organizations.
Jeff has several years of international business experience having lived, worked and studied abroad. He is a graduate of Miami University in Ohio where he received a B.AS. in Engineering Management. He also participates in several expert networks and local organizations related to Project Management, Talent Management and Supply Chain Management like the Rocky Mountain roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). Jeff lives in Denver where he is an avid mountain biker, skier, and golfer.
George Fowler | Group Vice President, Planning Systems
George Fowler is a Group Vice President in Spinnaker’s Supply Chain business unit where he leads the firm’s Planning Systems Implementation and Managed Services Practice. An industry veteran, George brings more than 22 years of experience in Supply Chain and Business Process Management experience to Spinnaker's team. An expert in technology-enabled supply chain transformations, George spent 13 years working for JDA/Manugistics, where he developed solutions that remain a prominent component of the JDA architecture, even today.
During his 5-year tenure as Practice Director of JDA’s Global Technical Consulting Practice, George played a fundamental role in the shaping the deployment methodology for the on-premise and cloud services deployment of the JDA Application Suite. There he also managed an international team of more than 50 technical consultants supporting the full spectrum of JDA Supply Chain applications.
A 3-time recipient of Supply and Demand Chain Magazine’s Top 100 Pros to Know distinction, George has distinguished himself a notable expert with many of the industry’s most prominent technologies. He leverages this acumen in his capacity as solution adviser for many of the supply industry’s most prominent technology companies. Additionally, he has personally led more than 75 planning initiatives that have generated billions in realized business value for companies across various industry verticals.
At Spinnaker, George maintains a critical role in directing the activities day to day activities for one of the industry’s leading supply chain delivery and support practices. Included in these duties is responsibility for practice strategy, organizational development, project delivery, account management, and financial performance. George received his B.S. in Decision Information Sciences with a minor in History from the University of Maryland at College Park.
Nick Hamm | Vice President, Supply Chain Design
Nick Hamm is Spinnaker’s Vice President of Supply Chain Design. Nick has deep expertise in supply chain design and analytics as well as over a decade of experience applying technology to help solve some of the most challenging supply chain problems faced by industry today. Beyond being a technical expert, Nick brings a solid perspective on the broader strategy, process, and change management issues companies need to address to truly transform supply chain performance.
Prior to joining Spinnaker, Nick was the first employee of LLamasoft and spent 8 years with the leading supply chain software firm in a variety of consulting and engineering roles including serving as the first product manager for LLamasoft’s flagship product, Supply Chain Guru. While at LLamasoft, Nick also served on the Applied Research team which is a group of Operations Research professionals that develop the algorithms used by Supply Chain Guru.
Nick’s supply chain modeling expertise includes strategic network design using mixed-integer linear programming, multi-echelon inventory optimization, vehicle route optimization, discrete event simulation, and advanced supply chain analytics.
Over the course of his career, Nick has successfully delivered over 75 projects and has worked with over 60% of Gartner’s top 25 supply chains. His projects span many industries including OEM manufacturing, logistics and 3PL, consumer electronics, retail, consumer packaged goods, grocery, medical devices, chemical, automotive, oil and gas, aerospace, and military applications. Nick received his B.S. in Industrial Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan, and now lives with his family in Denver, CO. When away from Spinnaker, he enjoys fly fishing and hiking.
John La Bouff | Supply Chain Fellow
John La Bouff, Supply Chain Fellow, leads our supply chain strategy as well as our SAP-enabled focus areas. He has over 35 years of leadership in supply chain management and brings a wealth of experience driving supply chain transformations as a business owner, IT executive, application vendor, and consulting professional. He is an acknowledged writer and speaker on leading practices and concepts in supply chain management. In addition to helping clients develop and improve core supply chain planning capabilities, John focuses on the latest innovations in supply chain best practices that bring new clarity to complex challenges. He is a powerful asset for our clients in process simplification, effective measurement, and leading transformational change.
Prior to joining Spinnaker, John led supply chain and IT groups at several electronics manufacturers, founded a software company in the 1990s that innovated supply chain planning solutions for the fabless semiconductor industry, and consulted extensively for high tech companies both individually and with Deloitte Consulting.
John has completed Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training as well as a variety of training for various applications and in change management. A graduate of Stanford University, John holds a B.S. in Management Science & Engineering. John lives in Mountain View, California. He is an avid wine maker and world traveler.
Stefan Achilles | Vice President, Supply Chain Planning
Stefan Achilles is a management and technical leader with services, operations and business development experience in Industrial Manufacturing, Consumer Packaged Goods, High Tech, Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, and Oil & Gas. He helps companies achieve their goals and objectives by assisting executives with business process design, organizational alignment and software implementations to improve the performance of the business. With his detailed business and technical qualification he led global supply chain initiatives focused on revenue growth, performance improvements and integrated supply chain solutions.
Stefan spent more than 20 years in the Oracle ecosystem and had different executive, management and consultant positions with Avata, MetaChain, JD Edwards and Numetrix. Recently with Avata he had executive roles in worldwide sales and services where he established international subsidiaries, headed the Oracle supply chain cloud team and led projects for international organizations.
For MetaChain he sold and delivered the first Oracle SCM BPS solution (Business Process Services) connected to Oracle EBS which included business process design, hosting, project implementation and managed services. Within JD Edwards he managed the supply chain consultants and implemented supply chain solutions connected to JDE ERP. For Numetrix he led different supply chain projects and collaborated with R&D on the first implementation of the production and distribution software connected to SAP ERP.
In Germany he attended the International Business School where he graduated in “International Business Administration” and the Martin Luther King School where he graduated in “IT Business Engineering” (German translations). Stefan lived in multiple different countries and now resides with his family in Tampa, FL where he enjoys soccer, sailing and fishing.
