Vice President – Management Consulting, Supply Chain

Spinnaker has an immediate job opening for a Vice President in the firm’s Management Consulting practice for a leader with deep supply chain strategy and planning background, as well as, strong experience driving operational continuous improvement projects. The Vice President of Management Consulting will join the senior leadership team in Spinnaker’s Supply Chain Consulting organization and lead the firm’s management consulting service offering from a sales, client delivery, and practice management perspective. The new hire will have the opportunity to grow the team, as well as, the benefit of an established Spinnaker reputation and team to build upon.  This Vice President will also have the support from other Spinnaker leaders who have led the management consulting team but subsequently transitioned to new roles within Spinnaker.


The right candidate will be someone who can manage both sales processes and project delivery to help clients drive tangible business results, as well as, manage and develop internal practice responsibilities such as developing and growing the team and supporting the development and refinement of Spinnaker methodologies. Proven experience leading significant transformation initiatives serving as a trusted senior advisor to consulting clients is required.


Primary Responsibilities


Client Delivery

  • Serve as a trusted adviser for senior executives at Spinnaker clients

  • Participate in consulting engagements as a subject matter expert for Strategy Planning and Operational Improvement project initiatives

  • Brings thought leadership to market needs, generating competitive advantage on existing markets and developing new revenue streams

  • Develop innovative industry specific messaging around a Portfolio of solutions

  • Builds a network of executive relationships across industry, community, and business groups, and with key partners and customers to stay current on issues impacting business and sales, providing meaningful strategic advice to retain and grow their business through integrated solutions.

  • Generate and supports the development of solid references

  • Provide industry best practice knowledge for client initiatives in the Food & Beverage, Consumer Products & Retail, High Tech & Semiconductor, Industrial Manufacturing, and Telecommunications industry verticals


Sales Support and Account Management

  • Serve as a key participant in the opportunity and lead generation process for consulting opportunities for Spinnaker’s supply chain focused management consulting practice

  • Lead the nurturing and maturing of client and prospect relationships

  • Support the development of sales documents including: Consulting Proposals, Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work, and Incremental project change requests

  • Participate in the definition and execution of marketing campaigns and collateral

  • Provide direct and indirect oversight for Spinnaker management consulting clients

  • Help position, sell, and oversee the successful delivery of Spinnaker services spanning supply chain design, management consulting, technology implementation, organizational capability development and training, and other supply chain services as beneficial to our clients


Practice Building

  • Participate in industry related conferences as a participant, speaker, or round table member in order to gain specific industry insight or establish credibility to improve Spinnaker brand awareness

  • Drive Thought Leadership through white paper development and publications

  • Development of standardized delivery methodologies

  • Interaction with Industry Analysts


Resource Management

  • Support with the development of employee goals and career roadmaps

  • Provide day to day to support to manage user activities and escalations

  • Provide employee mentoring to achieve both short term improvements and long term goals

  • Support employee community building activities

  • Support the recruiting interviewing and on-boarding process for new W2 and 1099 employees

  • Resource training


Required Competencies


  • Ability to develop credibility and trust with senior supply chain, operations, and IT executives both as part of the sales process and during project delivery

  • Ability to take somewhat vague circumstances or client requirements and formulate clear scope, project objectives and approaches and drive successful projects

  • Quantitative and analytical skills (financial analysis, mathematical modeling and statistics, etc.)

  • Strong problem solving skills (ability to follow a DMAIC process – define, measure, analyze, improve, control)

  • Strong written and oral presentation skills

  • Presentation abilities (up to CxO levels)

  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of an organization

  • Specific knowledge of common change management doctrines and best practices

  • Ability to develop and nurture subordinates and team members

  • Responsibility and Management of Financial Performance & P&L for the Practice


Job Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Master’s degree desired

  • Experience in supply chain and operations management consulting

  • Strong functional knowledge (10+ years) of S&OP and Demand/Supply Planning with knowledge and experience of the related technology landscape (JDA, SAP, Oracle, Kinaxis, Logility, etc.) This is not a technology implementation role; however, the background knowledge and ability to provide clients with guidance and advice is important to driving successful business process transformations.

  • Broad operations management and continuous improvement experience including manufacturing and distribution process improvement methodologies (i.e. experience with lean, six sigma, etc.)

  • Consulting experience in key client industries especially Food & Beverage, Consumer Products & Retail, High Tech & Semiconductor, Industrial Manufacturing, and Telecommunications

  • Strong written and oral presentation skills
